Repeal of Part 1203 and addition of new Part 1203 to Title 19 NYCRR
A Notice of Adoption by the Department of State has been published in the
New York State Register on October 26, 2005. The notice of adoption affects
the administration and enforcement of the Uniform Fire Prevention and
Building Code. The rule making repeals the existing minimum standards for
the administration and enforcement of the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building
Code that local governments must follow and adopts new minimum standards.
The effective date for the new regulation is January 1, 2007.

New Program Review and Reporting Form
19NYCRR Part 1203
Title 19NYCRR Part 1203 (effective January 1, 2007), requires every city, village, town,
and county, charged with administration and enforcement of the Uniform Code to
annually submit a report of its activities to the Secretary of State. The information
provided on this form is used to verify your municipality's compliance with the minimum
standards for administration and enforcement of the Uniform Code contained in Part 1203.
The information provided will also be used to develop education, outreach and support
programs for municipalities and Code Enforcement Officials.
Please note: The form does not need to be completed till January 2008 for the
Reporting Year 2007. The form has been made available so municipalities can
determine the recording keeping necessary to complete the form.

Carbon Monoxide Alarms and the 2010 Uniform Code
The 2010 Fire Code covers the application, installation, performance and maintenance of
carbon monoxide alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, and their components, in new and
existing one- and two-family dwellings; multiple single-family dwellings (townhouses);
buildings owned as condominiums or cooperatives and containing dwelling units;
bed and breakfast dwellings; and other buildings and structures which contain one or more
dwelling units, sleeping units or sleeping areas and which are classified, in whole or in part,
in one or more of the following occupancy Groups:
E, I-1, I-2 (except hospitals), I-4, R-1, R-2, R-3 or R-4.
